The cathedral project was astonishing in the range of works made. Apart from the glass art works a huge 40 sg mt mosaic was made. The roof, made of Kenya Clay tiles has a pattern based on wheat. There are two sets of bronze door panels set into a steel construction. Three statues made of local soapstone and a crucifix made of dripped and fused brass fixed onto the cross made from a tree that previously stood on the site.
The Kericho Cathedral Project is the reason that the Nakshi Glass Studio now exists.
After being refused permission to use the only large kilns available in Nairobi, a large glass fusing kiln was imported to enable the glass concepts to be carried out.
When the cathedral project was coming to an end we were asked to take over the equipment to maintain it and to try to allow people in Kenya to learn some of the skills that the kiln made possible.
